Viewed from above, the terraced pool and garden of this property read almost as a diagram of the hillside itself, with each level following the slope rather than working against it. This was the intent from the outset: a garden that appears inevitable on a site that, prior to design, was a steep and largely unusable stretch of lawn.

Retaining walls and planted terraces provide the structural framework, but are detailed to recede into the surrounding plantings rather than assert themselves visually.
